    Mountain Synagogue is a non-profit Jewish congregation located in Franklin, North Carolina. Membership consists of year-round and seasonal residents, who are dispersed throughout the Western Carolina & North Georgia mountains. Services are held at 216 Roller Mill Road, Franklin, NC (St. Cyprian Social Hall).

    Mountain Synagogue operates with a Board of Directors that administer the overall operation of the Synagogue and Religious Committee that oversees the worship service.

    The mission of Mountain Synagogue is to promote our Jewish heritage and traditions and our Jewish community. We accomplish this through Shabbat and Holiday services, life cycle events, social and educational activities, and deep commitment to the preservation of the Jewish people.
    Mountain Synagogue is the only Jewish congregation in North Carolina west of Asheville. We are a Synagogue, a Community and a Family.

    Mountain Synagogue is an unaffiliated Jewish Synagogue which began in Franklin, North Carolina in 1979. It was started by a group of retirees who had vacation homes in Western North Carolina and local year-round residents. Conducting services, planning social events and administering the Synagogue are all accomplished by volunteers.

    Our congregation meets in the social hall of St. Cyprian's Episcopal Church on Roller Mill Road in Franklin, NC. Shabbat services are held regularly, as well as other holiday services. We commemorate the Jewish Holy days with services and celebrations year-round. The schedule of services is posted on our website.

    Our Passover Seder, Chanukah latke party and Chavurah meetings are popular events with our congregation as well as the community at large. A women's group meets monthly in private homes and in the Church social hall.

    Partners in Torah offers Jewish adults of all backgrounds across North America a cost-free learning opportunity to discover Judaism – its culture, history, and traditions – at their pace and their schedule. Jewish men and women with an interest in acquiring specific skills or who simply want to build on their Jewish knowledge-base, are matched, one-to-one, with a carefully selected personal Torah trainer or “mentor” for up to an hour a week of over-the-phone (or over-Skype) study and discussion.
